LIP FILLER
Lip filler, what it is and how it works:
Lip filler is an aesthetic medicine treatment that helps improve the appearance of the lips. It consists of a series of hyaluronic acid-based filler injections, which can perform a moisturising and lip-filling function.
Many women, but also many men, choose this treatment because it is considered mini-invasive, but above all because the synthetic substance that is injected is bio-compatible as hyaluronic acid is produced naturally by the body.
The procedure does not take long and is usually not considered a painful treatment. Despite this, it is possible to feel a slight discomfort, only during the first few injections.
Usually, before starting treatment, a powerful anaesthetic ointment is applied to the lips in order to minimise discomfort, and the fillers used by doctors contain lidocaine; a powerful anaesthetic; which will further anaesthetise the lips so that no discomfort is felt during treatment.
The type of filler used is carefully chosen by the doctors depending on the imperfection to be treated and the result to be achieved.
To whom is lip filler recommended?
This treatment is recommended for anyone who does not feel comfortable with the appearance of their lips, to correct imperfections or irregularities, or simply to increase their volume in a natural way. It should be pointed out that there is no standard for the beauty of the lips, but according to the aesthetics and proportions of the face, the most suitable treatment will be recommended for a result that is harmonious with the rest of the face.
Lip fillers: results and duration
The effect of the lip filler is immediate, which means that as soon as it is finished you can already see the first results.
The procedure lasts on average half an hour and immediately afterwards you will have sore and sometimes ‘swollen’ lips due to the inflammation caused by the needles. As days go by, bruising may appear, which will reabsorb within 4-5 days.
Post-operation is very easy to deal with: – Use protective creams in case of sun exposure in the following days. – Avoid extreme, very cold or very hot temperatures, e.g. saunas and steam baths in the next 72 hours. – For the next 12 hours, avoid strenuous physical activity that increases blood flow to the face.
Contraindications:
Before proceeding with treatment, it is necessary to ascertain the patient’s state of health. In fact, the filler cannot be performed in the following
circumstances:
Hypersensitivity to the filler components – Pregnancy and lactation – Ongoing herpetic infection – Autoimmune skin diseases.
